"This most recent artistic success in a classic ‘white’ ballet, for virtually sold-out houses, firmly establishes LAB as the completely credible and viable ballet company for which Los Angeles audiences have been waiting for decades."
– Penny Orloff- CultureSpotLA/June 2009
Los Angeles Ballet concluded its 2008/2009 Season to critical acclaim and standing ovations. Penny Orloff’s quote from her June 2009 review of LAB’s presentation of the romantic masterpiece La Sylphide/May 2009 - LAB's first full-length ballet since it's original production of The Nutcracker - confirms Los Angeles Ballet is the company to watch.
On May 26th, 2009, Los Angeles Ballet presented the First Annual LAB Choreographic Workshop. This exciting event “sold-out” within 24 hours of its announcement and featured four original works, three by Los Angeles Ballet dancers Lucy Van Cleef, Kelly Ann Sloan, and Drew Grant, and one by Josie Walsh, founder of NYO Dance Company. Los Angeles Ballet Artistic Directors Colleen Neary and Thordal Christensen spearhead LAB's ongoing mission and commitment to nurture collaborations with all artistic genres where choreographers, composers, dancers, musicians, and set, costume and lighting designers continue to find opportunities for artistic growth.
Los Angeles Ballet will announce it's 2009/2010 Season in August. Look for the return of LAB's holiday tradition, The Nutcracker.
Look for exciting new choreography, fresh interpretations of the masterworks and surperb dancing!
